Zachary Long

Technical Business Analyst • Long Island, New York

I’m a Technical Business Analyst at SUNY Farmingdale, where I build dashboards, automate reporting pipelines, and help leadership make faster decisions with data. I hold an M.S. in Business Analytics & AI from NYU Stern and a B.S. in Computer Science from Auburn University.

Before data, I spent over a decade as a professional wedding photographer, ran a boutique production company, and managed hotel operations at Marriott. That range taught me to communicate across domains, read a room, and think about systems from the user’s perspective.

Off the clock, I review sci-fi and fantasy books on YouTube, co-host a data podcast (Everyday Data with PnZ), and track every film I watch on Letterboxd. I’m drawn to stories with scale and atmosphere — Dune, Malazan, Lord of the Rings — the kind of worldbuilding that rewards patience and attention. That same instinct shapes how I approach analytics: look at the whole system, find the signal, tell the story clearly.

Why This Site

This site exists because I don’t think professional and personal have to live in separate boxes. The same curiosity that drives my analytics work drives my reading list and film diary. If you’re here from LinkedIn, welcome — check the Workshop. If you’re here for book reviews, welcome — check the Stacks. Either way, you’re seeing the full picture.
